About this session
Recruitment is not the only response when work changes. Drawing on Maximus experience, Brendon Scharf explores how skills evidence can identify possible internal transitions, what development makes a move feasible and how to assess outcomes for employees and the organisation. Discover the questions to ask before choosing between developing existing talent and recruiting externally.
Learning outcomes
- Identify an internal transition to investigate before recruiting.
- Specify evidence and development needed to assess feasibility.
- Choose measures that reflect both employee and organisational outcomes.
This session will explore
- How skills evidence can identify possible internal transitions.
- The development and human judgement needed to make a move feasible.
- Measures of success for employees and the organisation.
Context
When work changes, a vacancy is not automatically a reason to recruit externally. Internal transitions may be possible, but skills adjacency needs to be tested against development requirements and outcomes for both employees and the organisation.
