About this session

Headcount forecasts alone do not determine workplace capacity. Drawing on Davis Carlin's experience connecting workforce and workplace planning, this session explores how growth assumptions, different roles and actual working patterns affect property and space decisions. Phil Kirschner joins Davis to challenge what the data supports, where judgement is needed and how workplace, Finance and People Analytics should work together.

Learning outcomes

  • Identify the assumptions needed to translate a workforce plan into space requirements.
  • Distinguish a supported capacity estimate from a judgement-dependent choice.
  • Define a shared question for workforce and workplace planning teams.

This session will explore

  • Connect workforce growth and role-mix assumptions to workplace requirements.
  • Examine how actual working patterns change the interpretation of headcount forecasts.
  • Explore how workplace, Finance and People Analytics can challenge evidence together.

Context

A headcount forecast cannot on its own specify the space an organisation needs. Workplace decisions depend on who will do the work, how they will work and which assumptions workforce, Finance and property teams share.
